Relocation of Livery Company Archives

Over the coming months many livery company archives will be moving to The London Archives to bring them together with the archives of related collections including the City of London Corporation, parish and diocesan material.

The relocation began on 26 May with the Merchant Taylors’ Company archives and will be followed by the archives of other livery companies.

Current update

Records of the Merchant Taylors’ and Grocers’ Companies have now been transferred and can be viewed at The London Archives.

Transfer of the Cordwainers’ Company collection begins on 6 July. During its relocation, access to Cordwainers’ records will be provided at The London Archives with at least 48 hours’ notice.

The records of livery companies still located at Guildhall Library will continue to be consulted there.

We will announce further moves as they are confirmed.

Please contact us about access arrangements.
