TLA Book Group: Original Sin by P.D. James

The London Archives Book Group, an online discussion group, meets monthly and welcomes all even if you haven’t read the book - although spoilers may arise!

We have a broad remit, covering fiction and non-fiction for all periods in London history. Each session focuses on a different book and includes an online presentation of original archive material to enrich the discussion.

P.D. James has been described as “the queen of English crime” and this novel is one featuring her beloved protagonist, poet-detective Adam Dalgliesh. An upmarket publishing house is losing money and it’s mock Venetian palace on the Thames is an unsupportable burden on the business. But plans to modernise lead to an unexpected death with a number of suspects – a discarded mistress, a neglected author, disgruntled colleagues – in the frame.
