Walking Tour

Join a guided walk recounting London’s long and dark history of law and order.

This walking tour recounts London’s long and dark history of law and order from Roman London to the 21st century. It explores the sites of crimes, courts and incarcerations and tells the stories of criminals, victims and law enforcers.

Hear tales of thieves, murderers and body snatchers; of trials, pillories, hangings and burnings; of political prisoners and miscarriages of justice. Meet characters such as William Wallace, Anne Askew, Roderigo Lopez, Jack Shepherd, Mary Young, James Somerset, Oscar Wilde and Sylvia Pankhurst.

What to expect:

The tour focuses on the City of London, the oldest quarter of the metropolis. It takes place at 2.30pm on Sunday 7 June and on Sunday 6 September 2026.

City of London Guide Lecturer Jonathan Wober from London On The Ground will lead this tour which takes approximately 2 hours.
