London built prisons to keep people securely inside, yet a surprising number still broke free.Patrick Voss shares the dramatic stories of escape artists such as Jack Sheppard, whose breakouts from Newgate amazed the public, and Ranulf Flambard, the first recorded prisoner to flee the Tower of London.

This talk highlights the personalities, risks, and ingenuity behind these escapes and explains why they became part of the city’s folklore. Patrick Voss is an award-winning Blue Badge Guide in London.
